Top Layer Security and Bradford Networks Announce Technology Partnership Extending Network Security from the Core to the Edge
The Combination of Award-Winning IPS and NAC Technology Delivers a Comprehensive, Defense-in-Depth Network Security Solution
Westboro, Mass. and Concord, N.H. – September
9, 2008 – Top Layer Security, a leading global provider
of Network Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), and Bradford
Networks, an award-winning provider of comprehensive network
access control (NAC) solutions, today announced a technology
partnership that integrates Top Layer’s IPS 5500 E-Series
Intrusion Prevention System and Bradford Networks’ NAC
Director and Campus Manager solutions. Through this technology
integration, Bradford’s NAC systems receive security
alerts from Top Layer’s IPS and automatically take action
against malicious endpoints at the edge of the network.
IPS and NAC technologies fit together naturally as organizations
demand tight integration as part of an adaptive, defense-in-depth
strategy. Niagara College of Applied Arts & Technology,
seeking an additional layer of enforcement and automation to
network security, is piloting the joint solution to extend
the college’s security protection from its network core
out to the point of network access.
“Top Layer’s IPS protects our critical core
infrastructure, but we need a solution that extends protection
to the network endpoints. This integration provides the perfect
solution for us, as it fits seamlessly into our network infrastructure,” said
John Levay, director, information technology services, Niagara
College of Applied Arts & Technology. “This is a
major step towards a completely automated solution that protects
our network, students and faculty, while improving the quality
of education by mitigating concerns over nefarious activity
on our network.”
Protection from the Network Core to the Edge
The integration of Top Layer IPS and Bradford NAC technologies
provides a comprehensive security solution that protects the
network from core to edge. The combined solution enables organizations
to continuously assess their networks for security threats
and vulnerabilities; identify the responsible users or devices;
and take immediate and appropriate actions at the point of
entry to the network to ensure continued security and availability
of network services.
“Enterprises have made significant investments in
solutions such as IPS and NAC, and are looking to enhance their
overall security through tight integration between the technologies,’’ said
Charlotte Dunlap, senior analyst with Enterprise Strategy Group. “This
integration between Top Layer Security and Bradford Networks
will enable customers to better leverage their IPS or NAC investments
through an additional layer of enforcement and automation to
network security, and by extending network protection from
core to edge.’’
Bradford’s NAC solutions deliver comprehensive identity
management, endpoint compliance assessment, and usage policy
enforcement capabilities that minimize the potential for security
threats getting into the network. Top Layer’s IPS provides
an additional layer of protection with its advanced post-admission
inspection and attack mitigation functions.
By combining Top Layer’s IPS 5500 E-Series with Bradford
Networks’ NAC authentication, posture assessment and
network wide quarantine and policy enforcement capabilities,
organizations can enhance overall network security and availability
by rapidly identifying compromised or threatening hosts and
launching automated responsive actions.
“Today’s network threats require a comprehensive
solution that provides security enforcement from the core to
the edge of the network. We’re proud to partner with
a technology leader like Top Layer Security to provide our
customers with a solution that significantly enhances network
security and ensures optimum network uptime,” said Mike
Gadoury, founder and CEO of Bradford Networks.
“Organizations worldwide face a tremendous
security challenge when providing open and readily available
network access to more and more users while maintaining high
levels of security to prevent breaches of personal data and
network degradation,” stated Peter Rendall, president
and chief executive officer for Top Layer Security. “The
partnership with Bradford Networks provides these organizations
with a defense-in-depth network security solution that protects
the entire network and enables the immediate removal of potential
security threats and vulnerabilities.”
