Bradford Networks Implements Large Healthcare Deployment

Campus Manager Registration solution helps meet HIPAA compliance

Concord, N.H. – August 15, 2005 Bradford Networks, developer of Security and Policy Solutions for Enterprise Networks, today announced that it has completed a Campus Manager implementation that addresses user authentication and HIPAA compliance for a major mid-Atlantic healthcare institution.

The sizable implementation is a successful milestone for Bradford in two important areas; first, the announcement signifies a strong move into the healthcare vertical market and second, the implementation is our largest geographical deployment to date. The enterprise solution spans multiple state-wide locations and encompasses thousands of users and computing devices.

This particular implementation is significant in that it addresses the needs of one of the nation's largest health sciences universities, which provides educational, research, and service programs at several campuses. The statewide system is comprised of health sciences education, biomedical research, and general healthcare.

Campus Manager’s policy enforcement functionality enables network administrators the ability to strictly comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) by ensuring patient information and access to the network are safe and secure. Forced user authentication provides a robust method of only allowing authorized users access to the production network. Unauthorized users attempting to gain access to the network are prohibited, thereby controlling potential security breaches.

Like many healthcare establishments, this client needed to strictly protect sensitive patient data, research data, and other highly confidential material. It is a requirement that access to the network is tightly controlled. Campus Manager provides a sophisticated authentication and registration tool used to register all users and establish role based access.

There are four important areas that Bradford Campus Manager will address in this healthcare network:

  1. Force all users to register / authenticate (log-in)
  2. Automatically log-out users after a fixed time period or at the end of a work shift
  3. Isolate unknown users and secure (lock-down) the network
  4. Compile a complete inventory of all devices within the enterprise network

“Our solution was designed to easily scale to meet the needs of very large enterprise networks,” said Mike Gadoury, Founder and CEO of Bradford Networks. “I am pleased that this customer has chosen Campus Manager to provide security, registration, and policy enforcement for their healthcare network .”

VANDIS, a New York based solution provider and a certified Bradford Channel Partner, was the integrator of the Campus Manager solution. The technical staff from VANDIS performed installation, implementation, and configuration professional services.

“Because of the scale and complexity of the network, this was a challenging assignment,” commented Andrew Segal, President of VANDIS. “Bradford Campus Manager satisfied the current needs of the healthcare university and offers a flexible yet stable platform for growth.”
