Central Michigan University
Selects Bradford Networks
Remote validation of student's computer
prior to arriving on campus
Concord, N.H. - May 23, 2005 -
Bradford Networks, developer of Security and Policy Solutions
for Enterprise Networks, today announced that Central Michigan
University (CMU) has selected our security management application
to remotely validate their students’ computers prior
to arriving back to campus in the fall.
Central Michigan University, a doctoral/research
intensive public university that is ranked among the best
in the Midwest, has a total population of 27,936 graduate
and undergraduate students. Like many schools, the network
infrastructure at CMU has become critical to the end users
and exceptional network performance is essential. CMU prides
itself on providing its growing student population with modern
facilities and state-of-the-art technology.
The University will be using a new feature
recently introduced into the Campus Manager solution to enforce
their network security policy and ensure the network is properly
protected. Rather than waiting for a huge wave of clients
to descend upon the campus in the fall with devices in an
unknown state, CMU will provide a Bradford solution for their
students to remotely validate their computers.
By using Campus Manager’s remote validation
solution, students will be able to have their computers pre-scanned.
The application will check anti-virus type and version, anti-spyware
type and version, and operating system patch levels. To properly
protect the CMU network, specific security software is required
to be installed on each of the students’ computers.
Remotely running the Client Validation Assessment
tool, will ensure that each student has the proper software
and protection configured on their computers in advance of
move-in day. The application will 'validate' a student’s
computing device prior to arrival on campus. With new threats
arising constantly, it is critical for all users to stay
current with the latest security software and definitions.
Utilizing this application will have a noticeable
positive effect on the technical staff supporting the CMU
campus. In the past, a typical university move-in day stretches
technical resources to the maximum. By pre-validating the
majority of devices attaching to the network, the number
of problems encountered can be greatly minimized. Students
that do not meet the minimum requirements are directed to
an online remediation center for help.
“By ensuring security software, versions,
and patches are in proper order and that they meet minimum
requirements, the school will experience a much smoother
arrival of students in the fall,” said Mike Gadoury,
Founder and CEO of Bradford Networks. “This application
has proven to be a huge success at many other colleges and
universities.”
The Security Management Application and Client Validation
Assessment are available today.
