Bradford Adds Support
for Wireless Networks
Campus Manager used to register,
manage, and secure wireless users
Concord, N.H. – May 3, 2005 – Bradford
Networks, developer of Security and Policy Enforcement Solutions
for Enterprise Networks, today announced expanded support
for wireless devices connecting to enterprise networks.
Wireless connectivity on university campuses
and in corporate America continues to grow at a rapid pace.
The use of notebooks, laptops, and PC tablets has become
very common amongst today’s computer users. Having
greater mobility and flexibility in being able to access
and share data allows a user to enhance their overall personal
productivity.
Along with mobility comes potential security
concerns; it is a known fact that mobile users pose a greater
threat to networks because of the nature of their use. As
users move between various locations with their portable
device, they are susceptible to picking up viruses or other
potential vulnerabilities. It is very common for a user to
visit a local coffee shop, connect to a home-based network,
maybe surf the internet while sitting in a park, and then
connect the same device to your production network.
Bradford is pleased to announce expanded
support for wireless devices to our extensive multi-vendor
networking equipment lineup. We realize that most enterprise
networks are comprised of products from more than one vendor.
Having the ability to support products from all leading vendors
has always been an important differentiator of Campus Manager
and allows us to help protect a customer’s investment
in their current infrastructure. Expanding upon our current
list of supported hardware, we have added support for Cisco
Aironet, Enterasys RoamAbout 3000, Extreme Networks 300,
and Trapeze Networks Mobility System wireless products.
Campus Manager can ensure that mobile devices
connecting through a wireless switch or access point meet
the same network use policies as wired devices. The mobile
device will be scanned for virus vulnerabilities, authenticated,
and registered before accessing the production network. The
device can be located and forced into remediation if it fails
one of the policies. These are the same important features
that we offer wired users.
Some of the key features that will apply to both wired and
wireless users:
- Scan each user upon connection for anti-virus, anti-spyware
and operating system levels
- Detect security risks and vulnerabilities
- Move ‘at risk’ users to Quarantine VLAN
- Enforce registration and authentication
- Keep unwanted users off the network
- Remediation to resolve issues
- Enable or disable users at the connection point
- Enforce network acceptable use policy
- Allow limited access for guest users
“Our solution effectively enforces
policies on both wired and wireless devices within your network,” said
Mike Gadoury, Founder and CEO of Bradford Networks. “Our
goal is to continually expand our support of multi-vendor
products to meet the needs of our customers.”
