Fraunhofer Institute For Secure Information Technology Selects
Bradford Networks' Network Access Control (NAC)
For Wired, Wireless and VPN Networks
NAC Director's Powerful Role-Based Controls Secures Guest and Remote Employee Access
Concord, NH & Darmstadt, Germany – March
26, 2008 – Bradford
Networks, an award-winning provider of comprehensive network
access control (NAC) solutions, announced today that the Fraunhofer
Institute for Secure Information Technology (SIT) has selected
NAC Director to protect its enterprise network because of its
role-based access control for wired, wireless, and virtual
private network (VPN) connections.
NAC Director was the product of choice for SIT, the security
arm of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Europe’s largest applied
research institute, because of its ability to effectively control
the wide range of different types of users across the 56 Fraunhofer
Institutes in Germany. SIT, headquartered in Darmstadt, reviews,
integrates, and manages security with broad expertise in radio-frequency
identification (RFID), public key infrastructure ( PKI), smartcards,
biometrics, and other technologies.
In addition, NAC Director was selected for the flexibility
from use of both persistent and non-persistent agents, its
wide hardware and software support, and powerful endpoint compliance
tools.
“We have to differentiate between employees at our
own institute, employees from different institutes, project
partners, or guests. Each has its own authorization, regardless
of whether access within the institute, via wireless access,
a network outlet, or from a VPN connection,” said Michael
Epah, Fraunhofer, SIT Project Manager. “It was of particular
importance that the solution supports the deployment of digital
user certificates of our PKI across wireless, wired, and VPN
LANs. Bradford was the only product that met all of our selection
criteria.”
Additionally Fraunhofer SIT and Bradford plan to cooperate
on product development, with Fraunhofer employees serving as
advisors to Bradford on future NAC capabilities.
“The Fraunhofer Institute is one of the world’s
leading security experts. Their selection of Bradford is a
tremendous acknowledgement of the comprehensive and flexible
design of our out-of-band architecture,” said Mike Gadoury,
Bradford Networks founder and CEO.
Bradford Networks has pioneered advanced NAC solutions since
2002 and helps solve network access control challenges facing
education, healthcare, financial services, government and other
organizations by securing wired, wireless, and VPN networks.
