Bradford Networks Positioned as a “Visionary” in Analyst Firm’s Magic Quadrant for Network Access Control (NAC)

Concord, N.H. – July 21, 2010 – Bradford Networks, a proven leader in securing today’s heterogeneous networks, announced today that it has been positioned as a Visionary in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Network Access Controli (NAC).

Bradford Networks provides an Adaptive Network Security™ (ANS) platform, the only network security solution that can dynamically adapt to changing security needs by automatically responding and securely provisioning network resources based on pre-established policies. ANS represents the evolution of traditional NAC tools. Bradford’s ANS platform integrates and correlates network resources, user information and device information to make networks both more secure and more accessible.

Bradford Networks offers a particularly strong solution for diverse IT environments – an increasingly common occurrence, due to a trend Gartner calls “the consumerization of IT,” where according to Gartner, “more enterprises allow employees to ‘bring their own PC to work.’”ii

Gartner reports that, “Network access control (NAC) will increasingly be used to help enterprises manage the consumerization trend, as more enterprises allow employees to ‘bring their own PC to work.’ NAC will enable network managers to gain back some control over their networks by allowing access to some devices, while denying access to others. When evaluating NAC solutions, look for vendors that understand the consumerization trend and support, or have plans to support, policies for managing the non-Microsoft endpoints that will inevitably attempt to connect to your network.” iii

Gartner also stated, “To a large extent, many enterprises are starting to look more like the early adopters of NAC, college campuses, with an increasingly chaotic mix of managed and unmanaged IT on the corporate network. Because employee-owned laptops or smartphones will typically not have corporate endpoint security software on them, stand-alone NAC capabilities will see higher demand.” iv

Bradford revenue growing faster than overall NAC market

While Gartner estimates that the size of the NAC market (in revenue) decreased in 2009 by approximately 10 percent v , Bradford grew revenue for its most recent fiscal year (ended June 30) by 17 percent. The company also grew its customer base by more than 15 percent, and 30 percent of new business was from outside its core education market – trends that bode well for Bradford’s future success.

According to Gartner, “We believe that NAC vendors that manage to grow in 2010 and beyond will be the ones that increase their capabilities for enterprises to safely allow unmanaged PCs and mobile devices to be used to meet business needs.” vi

“Bradford has always excelled in diverse IT environments, due to our roots in the education field,” noted Gregg Bjork, CEO of Bradford Networks.
“We’ve been successfully securing heterogeneous networks and heterogeneous device bases for over a decade – and that experience now gives us an edge in corporate and healthcare environments, two big areas of recent growth for us.”
