Complementary products deliver an enhanced network acceptable use policy enforcement solution

Concord, N.H. – Bradford Networks, developer of Security and Policy Enforcement Solutions for Enterprise Networks, today announced that it has joined the technology partner program of Packeteer Inc., the industry leader in WAN application optimization solutions. When used together in a network, Bradford Campus Manager and Packeteer PacketShaper ® appliances are a best-of-breed solution that enables strict acceptable use policy enforcement by monitoring traffic patterns and taking the appropriate actions to isolate problem devices and/or users.

As a Packeteer technology partner, Bradford Networks demonstrates integration and interoperability with Packeteer’s WAN application optimization solutions, providing customers with a solution to meet their key business requirements and derive the greatest ROI from their IT operations. “Using the combined products from Bradford Networks and Packeteer has worked out great for us,” said Joseph Roth, Network Support Technician at Binghamton University. “We have disabled somewhere around 100 infected users this semester, possibly more; so far the solution has had 0% false positives.”

The Bradford Campus Manager Solution is comprised of endpoint security compliance, network access control, and an acceptable use policy management application, which collectively provides a powerful set of tools to control network access, enforce version control, manage network policies, and deliver overall client and device management. In addition, an identity management database within Bradford Campus Manager collects and tracks specific information on each user accessing the network (wired and wireless), including such data as user name, MAC address, IP address, switch port, physical location, and more. Bradford Campus Manager supports all leading switch vendors and can enable/disable ports, switch VLANs, and manage devices. Through the enforcement of network acceptable use policies, the solution helps ensure that a customer’s network is safe and secure.

Bradford Networks and Packeteer have partnered to deliver a robust solution to identify problematic events in a network and take immediate action based on a customer’s specific network policies. The combined solution leverages the strengths of both product sets to offer an unparalleled network monitoring and control application. Packeteer’s PacketShaper continually monitors network activity. Upon detection of a specific event (traffic type, bandwidth threshold, etc.), a trap is sent to Bradford Campus Manager with specific data points (IP address, offending action). Bradford Campus Manager will take the appropriate action ranging from email notification to device isolation, depending on the specific policy set by the network administrator. Working together, Bradford Networks and Packeteer deliver a best-in-class enterprise network solution that helps manage and control network activity.
