We received this VB script that may help Campus Manager with the NAV verification. I'm looking for someone to look at the script, provide details on what it's doing, and if you're comfortable with it, try running it on your NAV server to see what happens.
I think it writes AV information to an ascii file for clients that have connected to the server and downloaded NAV. Campus Manager could then read this file when a client connects to the network to verify the client has NAV installed. By placing this script on the NAV server and running in periodically, Campus Manager would have up-to-date information for which clients had NAV installed and then be able to block access for those that don't. The issue may be determining the hostname for a client, or making sure the client hasn't changed their hostname since they downloaded NAV.
Let me know what you think, and if you try to run it.
This looks like a big step for the Norton/Symantec piece.
What other products are you using? McAfee? Sophos? CA?
Do you have a site license?
Do you require this as part of your acceptable use policy?
Again, feel free to respond to the list or directly to me (leclerc_at_bradford-sw.com)
Thanks for the feedback !!!
Rick
