Campus Manager Users,
We are coming up with a proposal to identify Linksys Routers that allow students to hide computers.
A school identified to us during one of our WebEx demos a trap that Cisco will generate if the "hop count"
exceeds a pre-defined value. Does anyone have any knowledge of this trap or this hop count value?
I thought it was TTL or DTL but I'm not sure. I'm following up with the school for more details, but I thought
I'd try this list at the same time. Please respond if you can help me out.
The scenario would be to have the edge switch send CM a trap when this condition happens. CM would
generate an event that you could then map to alarm and take automated action if you choose. At least
you would be notified as an administrator that an extra hop exists in the network and you could send
the "trench coat gang" to the room.
