Database Maintenance

Hi all,

Just wanted to touch base with everybody about Database Maintenance.

As you know CampusMgr saves Events and Client Connection Records. As you
might expect this can lead to a lot of data being stored in the
database. If too much data is saved this can lead to some minor
performance issues (mostly in the Client).

So in order to keep Campus Manager responsive I would recommend that
older records are purged from the system.

Here are the instructions to clean up the database Events and Client
Connection Records.

1) Go to the scheduler. Then add a new Scheduled Task (File-->Add).
2) Enter a name for the Task - "Database Purge Task"
3) Enter a description for the Task - "Purges events and client records
older
   than 14 days."
4) Select the task - "Event Archive and Purge Task"
5) Group Selection - No groups are allowed to be selected for this task.
6) Schedule the task - Schedule this when you want it. I would suggest
once a
week at some time like 2 am on Sat or Sun.

This task will Archive and then Purge Events and Client Connection
Records that are older than 14 days. The 14 days is configurable if you
need/want more than that.

All database save and archives are stored on CampusMgr. I would
recommend that you periodically go to CampusMgr get at least that last
backup and store it off somewhere safe.

You can see what's been saved if you look at
http://CAMPUSMGR_IP:8080/runTime/backup.

If you have any question please post and I will be glad to answer or
help out.

Mike
