Like many organizations, you may have established an acceptable use policy (AUP) for your network which defines rules for network access and network resource usage. Not only is this a good security practice, but these policies are often mandated by industry and government regulations such as SOX, HIPAA, PCI, and others.
Securing your network requires not only that you keep unauthorized users and devices out, but also that you can effectively provision network access privileges to allow authorized users to get to only the information they should. This is where a well-defined AUP is useful in defining access policies. All too often, however, there is no enforcement of such policies in the network, which limits their true effectiveness.
Imagine if you had a way to automatically enforce your access policies and provision network access to control who and what can get onto
your network and to manage the resources that are accessible to each user.
