With the mobility of today’s workforce, computers used on an organization’s network are more susceptible than ever to viruses, worms, and other threats than ever. Laptop computers are used in the workplace, at home, and on the road in public areas like airports, hotels, and coffee shops. Networks have become the critical infrastructure for organizations of all types as users expect access wherever they go. But how can organizations protect themselves against increased security threats from mobile devices? How can they ensure that devices connecting to the network are “safe” and meet their security policies?
Bradford Networks’ Endpoint Compliance extension allows computers accessing the network to be scanned and checked for compliance with endpoint security policies – from the most basic policies, to highly advanced ones, and everything in between. Simple compliance checks can be run to verify operating system version, security patches, and anti-virus / anti-spyware software. More advanced checks can be run to confirm that all required software applications are installed and running, to detect the presence of unauthorized or prohibited applications, and even to detect specific files on the system by type or by name. The level of detail is fully customizable based on an organization’s needs, and different scans can be applied for different devices on the network.
Using the Endpoint Compliance extension, the security posture of all Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux machines on the network can be quickly assessed and compared with organizational policies. When used in combination with other solutions in Bradford’s Network Sentry family, this information can be applied to limit or prevent network.
